Weekly Hobby Update : 6-13-18

Hey Everyone!  Another week has come and gone as we move toward the release of the new edition of Age of Sigmar.  While I cannot wait for the new edition it seems like time is moving very quickly for me as Coalescence, NOVA Open, and Realms at War : Aethermy is coming on quick.  There is still a lot to do for these events and while it is months out I am already feeling the crunch to ensure I get everything I want to be done in time.  The biggest tasks remaining are for Realms at War as I am diving into some recent lore to develop my Aethermist and Aetherlab.  I still have a solid plan for the models, but a few recent sudden inspirations might see me change my plans a bit.  While a bit might change it will still be heavily Daughters of Khaine themed.

While waiting for the new edition to drop I decided to begin repriming my Dark Angel Force last week and managed to knock out my Ravenwing and Core units with some spray cans.  My Deathwing, on the other hand, needed a very specific color only produced as Citadel Air.  A picked up a fresh pot of Terminatus Stone and pulled out my airbrush.  After a long night cleaning, clogging, and more cleaning I managed to finally remember how to airbrush.  I really wanted to get the entire army primed so I could paint them up as the mood hits me or a need a break from whatever army I might currently be working on at the time.  I managed to complete the task so I can grab a unit or two from time to time for painting.

I really enjoy painting Space Marines as they can be painted up fairly quickly with some simple dry brushing and detail work.  My plan to is to paint them to a tabletop level so I have a nice 40k force for when I want to play.  The unintended side effect of this side project is it has really peaked my interest to paint up some more Stormcast, especially the new Sacrosanct Chamber.  If the budget allows I will be grabbing the new starter set to do just that, and maybe begin a Nighthaunt army since I will have a nice size force for them as well.

The sad part of my hobby is I still am finding much progress on my Khinerai.  I am continually putting some paint on the models, but I have not been dedicating more than a few minutes a night.  I really love the models and while they are a bit of a challenge to paint I am hoping on adding more in the future.  I really need to dedicate a few nights and finish them up to get them off my table.  Once I do I will have the freedom to work on my next projects.  The plan is to add more highlights and details to my Daughters of Khaine, paint a competition piece for Capital Pallete at NOVA Open, kitbash and paint my stuff for Realms at War, and a few other projects I cannot reveal just yet.  Only a few Khinerair are between me and these new projects so time to push through!

I hope your hobby is flowing better than mine and if you are struggling don't let it get you down.  There will be plenty of excitement in the coming month with the new edition that no matter how much of a hobby slump you might be in it will fade quickly and the paint will be flowing.  Until next time, Happy Hobbying.
