Metal Witch Aelf Retirement

Happiest of Holidays my friends!  Today I wanted to share a small photoshoot I have done for my soon to be retired metal Witch Aelves.  When I first began my Daughters of Khaine Journey I had a plethora of the old Metal Witch Aelf Sculpts (Thanks again Domus!) which I absolutely love as a sculpt.  However,  as my journey continues I have decided to retire them and give them a well-deserved rest.  However, my plans for my Daughters of Khaine in 2021 is not slowing down at all!

Daughters of Khaine: 2020 Year End Review Revisit

Hello and Happy Holidays everyone!  Recently I was on AoS Coaches YouTube channel not once, but twice talking all about Daughters of Khaine.  I had a great time walking through the new and the old and in today's blog post I wanted to post the lists from both shows (and the shows themselves) for you all to take a look at and follow along with my thought process in building lists for my most beloved army.  If you want me to go deeper on these lists in the future then let me know over on my Twitter or Instagram!   I will see you next week and as always stay Stormcast Strong and Happy Bohhbying!

FaceHammer Objective Marker: Review

Recently my order of the Facehammer Objective Markers arrived and today I wanted to give a brief review of the product and encourage all of you to go check them out for yourself.  Whether you are using them for competitive practice or, like myself, using them for casual games in order to take less stress off measuring during scoring.  All in all, it is a great product made by some great folks and you can pick them up over at Element Games.

2021 Event Cancellations and Updates

Today is a bit more of a Public Service Announcement than a regular post.  LVO 2021, as well as Adepticon 2021, have officially been canceled as they do not feel they can run a safe event of these sizes.  As of now, NOVA Open 2021 is still on the books so here is hoping we can all meet up in DC on Labour Day weekend.  Check after the jump for links regarding these events.

Armies on Parade 2020

The submission deadline for this year's Armies on Parade has come and gone.  Having moved to an online format due to the shutdowns has really changed a lot of folks' approaches to their entries this year.  While I did not work on a submission for the event there are plenty who did and today I wanted to share a few of my favorites with you.  If you want to see more then head over to Twitter (and likely Instagram) and search #armiesonparade2020.

Tayrathi's Music Playlist on Spotify!

Hello everyone!  After posting last week's article on my upcoming Taythian Cult Battletome Supplement I came to realize that I never shared another fun bit of Tayrathi goodness with you all here.  Today I remedy that by sharing you all with a link to Tayrathi's Playlist on Spotify.  It is made up of music I enjoy as well as music I feel fits the personality I have crafted for the character through my many lore pieces around her and her life.  I hope you give it a listen and enjoy!

The Tayrathian Cult Supplement - Update

Today I want to give you all a sneak peek at a project I have been working on behind the scenes these past few months.  This project has been a long time coming, but I am excited to finally get it fleshed out and hopefully out to you all before the year is out.  That project is my Age of Sigmar Fantome (Fan-made Battletome) Supplement: The Tayrathian Cult.  This is intended to be a supplement for the Daughters of Khaine Battletome fully focused on my custom army lore and characters.  I have made great progress on it, but there is still much to do, but for now, let me give you a small peek into where the project currently stands.

Strength Hammer Content Update

Hey Everyone!  Today is a shorter post, but I wanted to layout the new schedule for all the Strength Hammer content coming out.  Ever since I began blogging regularly again I have been wanting to keep a regular post schedule every week, but I had yet to really set any schedule for the podcast other than doing one or two per month.  The new schedule will be as follows and will begin in full next month in November.

Happy Hobbying and stay Stormcast Strong!

My First Steps into Historical Wargaming

A few months ago, while deep in shut down I achieved the impossible, I painted every single model I own.  Having completed this herculean task I ventured out to my FLGS to pick up the next project to fill my hobby void.  I walked around for a bit, but nothing grabbed so I decided that I would just use this free time elsewhere in my life.  Before I left I informed the shop owner of the completion of all my models.  He asked me to hold on a moment while he disappeared to his storage room and returned laughing as he tossed me a bag of 28mm Roman Legionnaires.  This bag was "on the house" as he knew he was starting me down a path of no return....Historical Wargaming.

A Plea for Secondary Named Heroes

Age of Sigmar has proven to be an excellent step up from Warhammer Fantasy Battles over these past years in regards to gameplay, lore, and many other reasons.  I feel the game is constantly going from strength to strength and while the lore continues to develop more and more depth there is one aspect I feel is lacking overall in the form of secondary named characters.  While some armies do have a number of secondary named heroes the majority are lacking anything but a single core figure.  In today’s post, I offer my thoughts and hopes in seeing more of these characters move from lore to tabletop in the years to come.

What if your Warhammer Journey was to begin all over again?

Earlier this week I proposed an interesting thought experiment on my Twitter and it created some fun discussion.  That question was “We all associate with one army or another (ex: myself and Daughters of Khaine). If you had to pick a different army and could do your hobby journey all over again which would you prefer to be associated?”.  Some responses were very off the wall while others were still in line with what that individual enjoyed as far as army lore or aesthetics.  In my post today I want to explore my answer and try to extrapolate what my Sylvaneth would look like today if that was the army I decided to run as my main army and essentially use as a brand on myself.

Upgrading the Hobby and Gym Space!

Over the past year, I finally began the process of taking back my overcrowded basement.  While half of it was carved out as my personal hobby space it was still chocked full of old junk in need of tossing and donating.  I craved a space for not only wargaming but also for working out and I am finally able to say I now have that space!  After many months of sorting and cleaning and moving what I am calling "The Anvil of Apotheosis" is now ready to go.  Wargaming and Lifting shall begin in great quantities!

Get Rid of Your Backlog Now!

The backlog, the pile of shame, the mountain of grey plastic.  There are many names for it, but we all know what I am talking about here.  We have or have had a hobby backlog in our lives as we get over-ambitious about our projects, having a strong FOMO over that new release, and many other reasons to be sure.  Having more models unopened than you might ever get to paint or play with is nothing to be proud of in my book nor is it passion.  It is a lack of discipline and requires a change in our thought process as a community.  Regardless of how your backlog came to be and how you feel about them, I am here to tell you today that you need to get rid of it one way or another.  Doing so is a favor to yourself and one that will give you more enjoyment from this hobby we all love.

Army Lore: The Ami'le Luminescence

Hey Everyone!  Today I wanted to introduce you to the character I have created for my new Luminth Realm-Lords army.  Ami'le The Immortal (based off Amy Lee of Evanescence) is a High-Warden from The Great-Nation of Iliatha and is in search of her unknown Clone-Twin while also fighting to halt Chaos whoever it may spread.  I hope you enjoy this short piece about my new character.

Army Lore: The Season of Miley Cypress

Hey Everyone!  It has been a while since I posted an actual blog post, but today I wanted to bring you the lore for my custom Sylvaneth character, Miley Cypress.  As you can guess she is loosely based on the pop star Miley Cyrus, but with my own Mortal Realms twist!  I recently completed the conversion and had to immediately write up her lore and share it with you all here.  If you want to see a hint of this character's creation check out this bit of Tayrathi Lore.  As always, I hope you enjoy it!

Lore: The Tayrathian Exodus

Hey Everyone!  Recently Doug over at the 2+ Tough channel ran a lore competition where he had people write a narrative story within the realm of Age of Sigmar.  His Patreon patrons read and voted to determine some lucky winners to have their stories featured on an episode of Doug’s channel.  I didn't make the cut sadly, but congratulations to all the winners and thanks to Doug for running the contest!

Today I want to share my submitted entry for you all to enjoy.  The lore piece features, as you might have guessed, the one and only Tayrathi!  Tayrathi having had and her cult forced to abandon their Temple home in Ghyran, has made a long exodus to a potential settlement outside the Free City of Anvilguard.  The tale picks up as Tayrathi is finalizing the terms of her cults settlement with members of the cities ruling council.  Also, check out the maps below of Tayrathi's journey and enjoy the story after the break.  Happy Hobbying!

Keep Nurgle at bay this tournament season!

Hey Everyone!  We are well underway in this year’s tournament season with the upcoming Adepticon looming vast on the horizon.  While “con crud” is a real thing and we all do our best to come away from an event without catching any illness it is always a threat be it flu, cold, it otherwise.  While there isn’t a need to panic or cancel plans due to what we hear on the news it is always a good idea to refresh yourself on how to keep you and your health safe while attending a large event.  Today I want to help with the refresh and list out the best ways I know of to keep Nurgles blessing at bay.

Army Lore: The Hunt of H'Katy The Perverse

Hey Everyone!  I recently finished painting my latest army project for The Age of Sigmar and I could not wait to share it her eon my blog.  That project was a Hedonites of Slaanesh army themed to be from the realm of Hysh.  Today I want to take a moment and show off the army and talk a bit about it and the story behind it.  If you want to get the in-depth story of H’Ka’ty and the army feel free to check out the narrative post I wrote back when I began this project months ago.  Check out the Narrative blurb and pictures after the break!

“H'Ka'ty The Perverse is searching for what she believes to be the essence of Khaine to resurrect him in the image of Slaanesh. She wishes to revel alongside him in an excess of murder and blood.  In truth, she senses the smallest trace of the dead god Khaine from the god Tyrion which has led her hunt deep into Hysh, and more recently Ul-Gysh.”

Happy Hobbying!

New Tayrathi Art Commission!

Hey Everyone!  I am very excited to show off the latest art I commissioned of my custom leader for my Daughters of Khaine army, Tayrathi Bloodsilver.  I am very lucky to have an amazing and supportive wife who is also an exceptionally skilled artist.  I commissioned her to draw Tayrathi in her own style and I could not be more thrilled with the result.  I really wanted to have a piece that was more representative of the kitbashed models I have created of the character for use in my games and my wife managed to blend her chibi/anime style with Warhammer in a great way!   Today is simply a short post to show off this new artwork as well as point you towards my wife’s Instagram page to see more of her artwork.  Happy Hobbying!

The Secret to Painting Dark Angels...in a week!

Hey Everyone!  I hope you have been well since my last blog post.  I thas been quite a while, but I can assure I have been busy hobbying!  While I won’t go into detail about everything that went on, I do want to talk about a recent Warhammer 40,000 Dark Angel army I speed painted, and I am quite proud of how it turned out in such a short amount of time.  This project was a long time coming as about a year ago I decided to reprime all my Dark Angels to give them a fresher paint job using all my current skills.  For some reason, the project died quickly and they sat in a box until I got that itch to knock them out.  Today I wanted to share how I painted the army so quickly while also getting back on the content train with the post!
