Community All-Gates 1-29-19

Hey Everyone!  I am home from Waaaghpaca 2019 and am resting from all the fun and the traveling.  In today's Community All-Gates I wanted to post up the results from the major events that took place this past weekend.  Cancon, The Uk Masters, and Waaaghpaca all looked to be an excellent time full of great people playing Age of Sigmar and the results were fun to see and scrutinize.  Check out the results below and be sure to come back Thursday when I begin posting about my experience at Waaaghpaca.

Community All-gates : 1-24-19

Hey everyone!  Today I wanted to bring you a very special Community All-Gates in order to help point you towards the coverage of some great Age of Sigmar events this around the globe happening this weekend.  There will have the UK Masters happening over in England, Waaaghpaca in The US, and Cancon down in Australia.  It is always fun to see so many big events happening at the same time, but it can be hard to know where to look in order to stay up to date on all the fun and gaming.  I aim to help you all with that very issue today by pointing you at some great people in the community attending these events!  Check the details below!

The Hobby Table 1-22-19

Happy Tuesday everyone!  If you missed my Twitter and Instagram post yesterday you might have been wondering what happened to my Monday Community All-Gates post.  As you may recall I have been looking at my content schedule and future changes to what I put out.  This week begins the first change were I scale back the blog a bit to twice a week in order to free up more time for more YouTube content and my upcoming Podcast.  You can now expect regular blog posts on Tuesday and Thursday.  Tuesday will be either a Hobby Table post or a Community All-Gates post and the Thursday slot will, for th emost part, be my usual Editorial and or opinion pieces that have traditionally been on Friday.  This is only the start of some great things on the way!

Road to Waaaghpaca 2019

Hey Everyone!  Waaaghapaca 2019 is only a week away and today I wanted to share what I have done to prepare for the event as well as the army I am taking to the event.  It took a while for my excitement for the event to truly ramp up, but it has fully kicked in and were a week ago I was dreading the 11-hour drive I am now less stressed about it and just stocking up on a few audiobooks to get me through.  After the drive, it will be a weekend of fun with some friends rolling dice!  I am also planning on doing a lot of coverage of my time at the event over on my Instagram.  The platform is great for quick snippets from the day's events so be sure to head over there and follow me so you don't miss a single moment of the fun!

The Hobby Table : 1-16-19

Hey Everyone!  I hope you have had a good week full of gaming, painting, and dice rolling since the last Hobby Table.  While I haven't been doing a ton of actually painting lately I have been keeping busy with other hobby-related items.  The biggest bit was finally clipping all the extra bits from the stack of sprues I had piled below my hobby desk.  It felt great clearing up all that space, but it was one of the least exciting hour and a half I have had in a while.  It is a necessary task that reinforced my commitment to clip the bits as I build kits as opposed to saving the task for a few years down the road.  Now on to the rest of the week which was much more exciting!

Community All-gates : 1-14-19

Hey Everyone!  Welcome to the "Community All-gates", the weekly feature on The Realm Gate Blog where every Monday I plan to highlight something or someone from around the Age of Sigmar and Miniature Painting Community.  It might be an Event, a YouTube Channel, Blog, Army List, Model, Hobby Project, or anything else that catches my eye.  Today I wanted to spotlight a recent video posted by Anthony Margo (AoS Coach).  The video deep dives into the Daughters of Khaine with a few of the most devoted of Morathi, Hayden Walker and Sam Morgan.  It is an excellent video that looks at alternative builds than the typical 60+ Witch Aelf lists.  While I run Hordes of Witch Aelves I am keen to get into other play styles of the army in the coming year and their insight on the topic was excellent.

Evolving your Army Narrative

Hey Everyone!  Today I want to talk about growing and evolving the narrative around your army through your games, painting, and hobby in general.  It is very easy to feel the pull to jump into the latest release and start a new army.  The models are always fantastic and it is exciting seeing how the army lore fits into the grand picture of the worlds we know and love.  Sometimes jumping into a new army is entirely the right thing to do, but other times it might be because you are bored with your current army playstyle, models, or their lack of new lore.  How can you prevent boredom from developing?  By creating, even a small, lore for your army and its heroes!

The Hobby Table : 1-9-19

Happy Wednesday everyone!  It has been a light week for me regarding hobby, but it really feels like the calm before the storm as my content plans begin to come together for 2019.  Later this week I will begin recording Episode 1 of the new Strength Hammer Podcast with my good friends Neil, Matt, and Sean as we talk all things Warhammer, Hobby, and Fitness.  Once it is released I will do an accompanying blog post to give a bit more insight into the concept and the "why" of the podcast.  I am very excited to begin this new content and see where it goes!

Community All-gates : 1-7-19

Hey Everyone!  Welcome to the "Community All-gates", the weekly feature on The Realm Gate Blog where every Monday I plan to highlight something or someone from around the Age of Sigmar and Miniature Painting Community.  It might be an Event, a YouTube Channel, Blog, Army List, Model, Hobby Project, or anything else that catches my eye.  Today I want to point you toward a Tweet I put out on December 31st asking everyone to share their favorite model they painted from 2018.  It had a ton of responses and it was great to see the fed dill up with everyone's passion and hard work.  I encourage you all to check out the thread and feel free to add your model to the growing collection of wonderful models everyone is proud to show off!

Content Plans for 2019

Hey Everyone! Today I wanted to take some time and let you know all the changes coming to my content channels in the coming year as I push towards improving what I put out for everyone to enjoy.  Over 2018 I began to dabble in YouTube while also increasing how many blog posts I put out every week and while the blog has been going strong my YouTube channel has had a bit of a false start that I aim to rectify this year.  I am also putting a lot more out there every day on various social media platforms and I hope to have many of you follow me on your preferred platform to make sure I can connect with each and every one of you.  Finally, I have gathered up a group of friends to begin recording for a new podcast coming your way soon!  As I move towards integrating Fitness with Warhammer I hope you will join me and continue to help me put out better and better content and check out the bottom of the article for links to everything!

The Hobby Table : 1-2-19

Happy New Year and Happy Hobbying everyone!  The Holidays are behind us and it is time to hit the ground running as we head off into 2019 for another great year!  Before I go much farther I want to let everyone know that the room blocks for NOVA Open 2019 are now open!  Head over to check out the latest newsletter to find out the details and get your spot secured before they sell out!  Now back to the Hobby Table!  It has been great having time off to get lots of projects moving and prepped and while it may seem as if I have a lot to do it isn't as bad as it seems as I am finally having a few things commissioned.  I have never been through the army commissioned process, but I plan to give you the details as it plays out in the coming months.
